Remembering Private James M. Donahue, Company A, Fifteenth Kentucky Infantry

Joseph M. Donahue was born on September 4, 1839 in Ireland and was the son of Malachi Donahue and Mary Hines. He emigrated to the United States in 1848. A farmer, he was 5’10”, with a light complexion, gray eyes, and light hair. His first wife, Pauline, died March 28, 1880. He married Mary Isabell Groves in 1881. They had two sons, Joseph Bland (1884-1956) and Crosby Malachi (1887-1963). Joseph died in Shelbyville on July 11, 1922.
