Remembering Private Thomas W. Myles, Company A of the Fifteenth Kentucky

Thomas Myles was born in Shelby County, Kentucky on June 14, 1837, the son of Stephen Hanna Myles and Salinda Wells. Myles was 5’8 ¾”, with a light complexion, gray eyes, and dark hair. Private Myles was discharged April 2, 1863, in Louisville on a certificate of disability based on dysentery. He married Annie Eliza Davis in Daviess County, Kentucky in 1865. They had four sons: Stephen Hamlet (1865-1945), William P. (1870- ), George (1876-1942) and Leo (1879-1955), and five daughters: Sallie Myles Moors (1866-1949), Lucy (1868- ), Amelia (1869- ), Barbara (1869- ) and Laura Virginia Myles Cundiff (1874-1972). Thomas Myles died in Owensboro, Kentucky on May 8, 1918.
